Ce film a ravi tous les passionn\u00e9s de sport automobile mais je pense que beaucoup ne connaissent pas la carri\u00e8re de ce pilote incarn\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9cran par Christian Bayle. Petit cours de rattrapage&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(source wikip\u00e9dia)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Kenneth Henry Miles<\/b>, dit <b>Ken Miles<\/b>, surnomm\u00e9 <i>Teddy Teabag<\/i> (pour sa consommation de th\u00e9) ou encore <i>Sidebite<\/i> (pour sa bouche tordue en parlant), n\u00e9 le 1<sup>er<\/sup> novembre 1918 \u00e0 Sutton Coldfield (pr\u00e8s de Birmingham) et mort le 17 ao\u00fbt 1966 \u00e0 Riverside (Californie), \u00e9tait un pilote automobile britannique, essentiellement sur voitures de sport en circuits, aux \u00c9tats-Unis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Biographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ken Miles commence les sports m\u00e9caniques par des courses motocyclistes britanniques avant-guerre. Durant le conflit mondial, il est sergent, servant d&#8217;estafette motoris\u00e9e, puis court sur Bugatti, Alfa Romeo et Alvis avec un club anglais de voitures de sport anciennes, avant de se tourner vers une Ford V8 Frazer-Nash.<\/p>\n<p>Ayant \u00e9migr\u00e9 \u00e0 Los Angeles, il d\u00e9bute aux \u00c9tats-Unis sur quatre roues dans des courses du Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) en 1952, roulant alors essentiellement sur une M.G. Special fortement personnalis\u00e9e jusqu&#8217;en 1955 (14 victoires SCCA d\u00e8s 1953), avant de passer de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence sur Porsche (550 Spyder de Johnny von Neumann surtout; 1956 \u00e0 1961), puis Sunbeam et Ferrari (1962), AC Cobra (1963 \u00e0 1965), et Ford GT40 \/ Porsche 906 (1966).<\/p>\n<p>En 1957, il con\u00e7oit le <i>Pooper<\/i>, un moteur et une transmission de Porsche 550S mont\u00e9s sur un ch\u00e2ssis de Cooper 1956 ayant conserv\u00e9 sa carrosserie. Cette voiture hybride domine sa classe F dans les courses SCCA de la c\u00f4te ouest organis\u00e9es entre 1957 et 1958.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miles est un pilote officiel du <i>Shelby\/Cobra race team<\/i> au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1960.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lors des 24 Heures du Mans 1966 (les 18 et 19 juin), alors qu&#8217;il m\u00e8ne en fin de course, la direction de l&#8217;\u00e9curie lui demande de ralentir pour que les trois Ford GT40 Mk.II puissent \u00eatre photographi\u00e9es ensemble, passant la ligne d&#8217;arriv\u00e9e. Il est de ce fait &#8220;r\u00e9trograd\u00e9&#8221; deuxi\u00e8me, car le syst\u00e8me de classement au Mans prenait en compte les diff\u00e9rentes distances couvertes par les voitures en fonction des positions prises au d\u00e9part, la voiture de McLaren \/ Amon ayant commenc\u00e9 la course plus en arri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>Deux mois plus tard, apr\u00e8s une journ\u00e9e d&#8217;essais priv\u00e9s en plein \u00e9t\u00e9 au <i>Riverside International Raceway<\/i> sur la nouvelle <i>Ford J<\/i> destin\u00e9e \u00e0 remplacer la Mk II, Miles fait un tout droit \u00e0 grande vitesse, la voiture partant en boucle, se renversant en s&#8217;embrasant alors que le pilote est \u00e9ject\u00e9 et tu\u00e9 sur le coup. Une version \u00e0 l&#8217;a\u00e9rodynamique corrig\u00e9e sortit ult\u00e9rieurement, la Mk IV \u00e0 l&#8217;habitacle renforc\u00e9, qui sauva probablement la vie de Mario Andretti aux 24 Heures du Mans 1967, lorsqu&#8217;il s&#8217;\u00e9crasa violemment mais n&#8217;eut pourtant que des blessures mineures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Palmar\u00e8s<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Championnat National <i>Road
